Hi there, I'm Lindsay!
As The College Counseling Mom, I'm your partner in ensuring your child's college journey is strategic, successful, and stress-free for the whole family.
The truth is, navigating the path from freshman year to college acceptance is more complex (and stressful) than ever! You're likely feeling overwhelmed, unsure where to start, and maybe even losing sleep worrying about course selections, extracurriculars, and how to help your child stand out in an increasingly competitive landscape.
Don't worry - whether your student is just starting high school or approaching senior year, I'm here to guide you through each step of this challenging process.
So, how did I go from guiding hundreds of students within the school system to launching The College Counseling Mom? Well, it all started when my own Child entered high school...
I quickly realized that he, like many students, could benefit from a personal guide, a dedicated partner to help him navigate the increasingly complex college admissions landscape.
I felt like my son was working so hard to set himself up for success, but what he really needed was someone to walk alongside him, providing individualized support and tailored strategies. And he wasn’t alone – I saw the same need in so many of my students. The college and career selection process has become increasingly intricate, requiring students to make informed decisions about course selection, extracurricular activities, and standardized testing from freshman year onward.
What’s more, I know how different that landscape is from when I applied as a high schooler. My experience helping hundreds of students gave me insights I know other parents don’t have into what colleges are really looking for. From course selection in freshman year to college applications in senior year, every decision matters.
But more than anything, I wanted to preserve my relationship with my son during these precious high school years. I didn’t want to be the nagging “deadline keeper” or the overbearing “essay editor.” I wanted to enjoy watching him grow, supporting his passions, and simply being his mom, not his college admissions manager. I believe that strong parental involvement is key to student success, but that involvement should be about encouragement and support, not micromanagement.
That’s when I realized I could offer families so much more: truly individualized strategies, one-on-one support, and a dedicated partner to guide them every step of the way – a mom who gets it because I’ve been there.
